The project design was developed through artist led community engagement with neighborhood residents and design professionals. Project design was partially funded through the National Endowment for the Arts, Our Town Grants. The project encompasses stormwater system improvements over four (4) Martin County owned parcels totaling approximately 2.36 acres, within a drainage basin of approximately 20 acres. The intent of the project is to provide water quality and flood routing improvements, along with educational installations and art features. More Info | The Patio at Palm City Place | The community has prioritized this land for recreational access, with the water feature as the centerpiece. Palm City Place will provide nearby residents with opportunities to walk, picnic, fish, play, and enjoy the outdoors. There is broad public support for the proposed improvements and have been part of the Community Redevelopment Plan since 2003. Participants in the plan stated “The residents of Palm City would like to envision Mapp Road features to include a Town Square (by the Fire Station) type of feature for the community to gather”.
